MLB Pro Winter Meetings 2019

Winter Meetings To Be Held January 9-11


The 2019 MLB Pro Winter Meetings will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada from Wednesday, January 9th through Friday, January 11th.

The Winter Meetings will be an opportunity for free-agents and agents to mingle with all teams in a single place. In addition, GM’s will have a chance to take place in trade negotiations, rule votes, and the annual player auction.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

Monday, 1/7

  • Auction submissions must be in by the start of the sim. Submit players to Matt via Slack.

Wednesday, 1/9

  • Welcome to the Winter Meetings
  • Trade Negotiations
  • Free-Agent Meetings
  • Player Auction Night #1: Hosted by Jabs
  • Opening of Rule Proposal Discussion

Thursday, 1/10

  • Commissioner Office “State of Union”
  • Trade Negotiations
  • Free-Agent Meetings
  • Player Auction Night #2: Hosted by Matt

Friday, 1/11

  • Trade Negotiations
  • Free-Agent Meetings
  • Player Auction Night #2: Hosted by Matt [Auction night #2 will either be Thursday or Friday, will be determined by my availability come those nights.]

The league office will continue to work on the meetings and potentially add to the itinerary.  If you have any further suggestions or ideas, please contact Matt (in Slack PM) with them.


2019 PLAYER AUCTION RULES

-Who Can Sell A Player?

-Any team

-Who Can Be Sold?

-Almost anyone!

-Players ineligible to be sold include those recently drafted in the Rule V Draft and players with no-trade clauses.

-Who Can Buy Players?

-Anyone can!

-How many players can a team list to sell?

-A maximum of 3 players

-1 Player per team will be auctioned on night #1, the number of players auctioned on the second auction night will be limited by availability. All players listed #2 will be be auctioned prior to beginning with any #3 player.

-Some auction’s have reserve prices on items – do we?

-No, not exactly.  You can set your opening bid (increments of $50,000).

-How do I sell players?

-Send Matt a list of up to 3 players in the following format:

  • 1) Player X, POS, $100,000 (Opening Big): Player X went 5-1 in limited innings. He possesses three-pitches and could be a spot starter or long reliever for a team in need of one.

The auction list will be made public at a point between the deadline and the auction.  At this point, players on the auction list are not allowed to be traded until the end of the auction.

-AUCTION NIGHT RULES-

The auction will be conducted within Slack.

The auctioneer (Justin or Matt) will call a player to the auction block.  Again, bids must be made in increments of $50,000.

The team with the winning bid will receive the player.  If the winning team has cash available, a trade will be made involving the player and cash.

If cash is not available, the league office will have to manually edit the player onto his new team.  In addition, we will add the cost of the winning bid to your misc. team expenses for the season.  The team that sold the player will receive cash.
