Angels Announce Extension To Rod Barajas

A day after winning a second World Series title with the Angels, manager Rod Barajas has agreed to terms on a new contract that will keep him as manager of the Angels through the 2021 season.

Barajas took over as manager of the Angels after Mike Scioscia unexpectedly retired after the 2015 season. Since taking over the team, Barajas has led the Angels to more than 100 wins in each of his three seasons in charge.

While there was some speculation that Barajas was going to be let go, owner Arturo Moreno and General Manager Matt Eisenberg both played down those rumors after announcing the extension.

“A lot of noise takes place outside of the walls of this organization, a lot of noise that is just not true. Rod has done everything we could possibly have asked of him since he took over. We are thrilled at what 2018 brought us and we are ecstatic that Rod will be staying with us.”
