League Announces 11 Teams Have Earned Competitive Balance Draft Picks

For the first time in MLB Pro history, the league office has announced it will use a system to award competitive balance draft picks on a yearly basis.  This season, 11 teams qualified amongst three tiers.  Tier I teams will be awarded a pick between the second and third round of the draft, while Tier II and III teams will be awarded a pick between the third and fourth round of the draft.

These picks are not eligible to be traded.

Tier’s do not carry over from year to year.

2017-2018 TIER I TEAMS: Arizona, Cleveland, Houston, Kansas City
2017-2018 TIER II TEAMS: Oakland, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay
2017-2018 TIER III TEAMS: Chicago (AL), Colorado, Miami, Washington
