A trade between Texas and New York was made official this evening. The Rangers have sent 27-year-old LF Xue-liang Wong and 29-year-old SS Elvis Andrus to the Mets in exchange for 29-year-old RHP Simon Castro, 24-year-old minor league RHP Jamie Widner and 26-year-old minor league RHP Chris Farrell.

Andrus has a lifetime average of .294, has played in 863 games, and has collected 53 home runs and 358 RBIs.

Castro has collected 45 wins and 38 losses over his career with a 3.96 ERA. The 29-year-old hurler also has struck out 617 batters in 769.2 innings and allowed 751 hits.

The Mets were in search for a replacement for Troy Tulowitzki as well as some punch at the plate to make a serious run at the ultimate prize.
