Cincinnati Sweeps into NLCS
The end result – Cincinnati won the final game 8-4, capping off a series sweep to advance to the League Championship Series.
“We’re a bit surprised it’s over in a sweep, to be honest with you,” said Nolan Arenado, who hit .556 in the series.
Arenado‘s standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .667 on-base percentage and had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Cincinnati Reds don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Atlanta Braves – New York Mets series. New York leads the series 2 game to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
Twins Advance to ALCS
Minnesota won the final game by a 4-1 count and captured the Divisional Series 3-1.
Keyvius Sampson led the way for Minnesota, turning in a strong performance on the mound.
“I just tried to make pitches and get outs, I guess it worked out,” said Sampson, who was named series MVP.
The MVP had a 0.56 ERA over 16 innings pitched, with a 2-0 record.
The Minnesota Twins don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Seattle Mariners – Los Angeles Angels series. Seattle leads the series 2 games to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
