Mitch Bannon Named New GM In Colorado

After the surprising news that now former Rockies General Manager Ryan Buchholz was leaving the Rockies to join the Giants just a week ago, Rockies ownership was forced to find a replacement.  With the season winding down and the Winter Developmental League draft beginning, as well as the need to focus on the decision on the future of Craig Kimbrel in Colorado, the organization had added pressure to get something done quickly.

The Rockies today announced the hiring of Mitch Bannon to step in immediately as new Colorado Rockies General Manager.  Bannon, an experienced General Manager will look to continue the Rockies push forward in the National League West.

At his press conference today, Bannon said, “I want to begin by thanking the Rockies for giving me the opportunity.  I’m really looking forward to the making the minor adjustments that it will take to get this team to the top of the division.”

Rockies owner Charlie Monfort praised Bannon during his introduction.  “We searched high and low when it came to filling this position.  We truly believe that not only did we find the best candidate for the job, we feel Mitch will will succeed immediately.”
