2020 Draft Update #1

Friday, April 10
via MLB Pro League Office

The 2020 MLB Draft will begin two weeks from today on Friday, April 24th.

The draft pool and order are available in Stats+. Both are all but official at this point barring the signing of the remaining compensation eligible free agent. Please ensure that you are able to sign in to Stats+ here and that you are able to access the draft list and order.

Soze and I are still thinking about and discussing the exact draft hours and timer that we will use. This will be decided before anyone is put on the clock and will be made known both in Stats+, Slack, an e-mail, and likely a follow up post on the league website.

Stats+ will create draft notifications in Slack at the #draftupdates channel. I will make sure everyone is invited to that channel. Within Stats+, the Pool/My List page allows for a team to use either/both of “List Pick” or “Auto Pick.”

-If list/auto are not selected, a team will have the full timer to make their selection.
-If ONLY list is selected and no players are on the list, the team has the entire timer allowed.
-If ONLY list is selected and players are on list, when the team comes up, the list is used immediately.
-If list AND auto are selected the pick is made immediately, first using the list, and then using BPA.

If there are any questions about Stats+ or the draft, please reach out to me via PM.

DRAFT FAQ AND REMINDERS

  1. Following the amateur draft, recently selected players cannot be traded until the first off-season following the draft.
    • This was an off-season rule change.
  2. Why were picks added to the end of both round 2 and round 3?
    • These are the competitive balance picks that have been added over the past few seasons.
