The Cubs today announced that they have come to terms with Ryan Copeland, a 32-year-old starting pitcher they’ve been scouting for a while.

Copeland will earn $28,980,000 a year over 3 years and is expected to play a key role with the club.

On his lifetime ledger sheet, the 32-year-old Copeland has won 84 and lost 38 with a 3.40 ERA.

Ryan Copeland was ecstatic when asked by reporters about playing for his hometown team, the Chicago Cubs.

“It’s been a lifelong dream to play here and I’m honored to have my name as part of the team’s history,” he said.

Copeland grew up nearby a huge Chicago fan, and said that being close to home will only make him a better player.

“Having friends and family around for half the season is going to really mean a lot. I’m looking forward to bringing home some championships to the Chicago Cubs fans.”
