Dodgers Cosart Gets No-Hitter

Jarred Cosart really did a number on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium today — and that number was zero.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hurler had what he later called “one of the best moments of my life,” tossing a no-hitter and leading the Dodgers to victory, 6-0.

“This is something special,” Cosart said. “I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can’t. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They’re everywhere you look.”

The right-hander faced only 30 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 9 and walked 2.

“We simply couldn’t get any wood on the ball,” Pittsburgh manager Joel Skinner said when asked about the epic performance. “Cosart was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number.”

Checking out his stats for the season, Cosart has notched 8 wins and 9 losses in 25 starts, 4.20 ERA and struck out 119 batters in 145.2 innings.

The no-hitter was the first in Dodgers MLB Pro history.
