With the 2022 All-Star Game set to take place next month on July 19th, the MLB Pro League Office is preparing to release the 2022 All-Star Game ballots later this week. While plenty of intrigue is set on who will be playing in this year’s game, the bigger and more immediate question surrounding the game is, where will it be played?
With MLB Pro not having missed the 2020 ASG in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium, the league has decided against returning to Los Angeles in 2022. The league has decided to implement an ASG hosting lottery/elimination battle to determine the host for the 2022 game.
The following teams are ineligible to host the 2022 ASG Game:
- 2021 ASG Host: Colorado Rockies
- 2020 ASG Host: Los Angeles Dodgers
- 2019 ASG Host: Toronto Blue Jays [Was meant to be CLE, but “someone” forgot to change this in-game so the game was ultimately played in Toronto]
- 2018 ASG Host: Washington Nationals
- 2017 ASG Host: Miami Marlins
- 2023 Future Host: Seattle Mariners
- 2026 Future Host: Philadelphia Phillies
- Los Angeles Angels
That leaves the following 22 teams eligible for hosting rights to the 2022 All-Star Game and All-Star Festivities:

- Boston
- Chicago (AL)
