Hot Hitting Youngsters Named POTW

Jerry MacDonal demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the National League Player of the Week Award.

The Los Angeles catcher wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .435 average (10-for-23) with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

On the year MacDonal is hitting .236 with 46 hits, 7 home runs, 27 RBIs, .290 OBP and has scored 20 runs.

In the American League, the hard-working and hard-playing Carroll Curtis was rewarded with the American League Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Toronto Blue Jays left fielder hit .562 while collecting 9 hits in 16 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.

Curtis has collected 37 hits for the Blue Jays this year, 5 of them home runs. He has also netted 18 RBIs and scored 21 runs while batting .343.
