Summer Heat Intensifies On Derek Jeter

Report out of Los Angeles on Sunday evening suggest that ownership is mulling the future of Derek Jeter.

Derek Jeter was hired as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the start of the 2017 season. After making the playoffs in each of his first three seasons as manager, the Dodgers won just 76 games in 2020. This season, Jeter and the Dodgers enter the All-Star break at 41-50 and 13.5 games behind the division lead.

While injuries have played some role in the troubles in Los Angeles, some outsiders believe ownership might blame Jeter for a fair share of the troubles as well. Multiple sources have reported that several key decision makers will be meeting during the All-Star break to determine the status of Jeter.

In addition to making a decision on Jeter, the source described the Dodgers situation as one in which, “changes will be coming in some fashion. There could also be a trimming of the roster with the potential clearance of underperforming veterans to make way for younger players.”
